Jodhpur City Guide

Beautifully sited on the foothills of a sandstone hillock, the charming city of Jodhpur gives an appearance of an oasis in the vast desert. With such gleaming appearance in the sun, Jodhpur is often quoted as the 'Sun City'. It is the second largest city (after Jaipur) of the state of Rajasthan, thus, any Rajasthan trip is not complete without a visit to this historic city. The city is named after its founder, Rao Jodha who was a chief of Rathore clan and established Jodhpur in 1459. Tourist Attractions
Mehrangarh Fort

Beautifully located on the Jag Niwas Island in the middle of serene Lake Pichola, it is a famous tourist spot in Udaipur. It was established by Maharana Jagat Singh in the year 1743 and now has been converted into a five star hotel.

Umaid Bhavan Palace

Another famous place to visit in Jodhpur is the Umaid Bhavan Palace. It was constructed in 20th century by Maharaj Umaid Singh in an effort to help famine victims. It is prime residence of the royal family however, some part of the palace converted into hotel and museum.

Jaswant Thada

Situated adjacent to the Mehrangarh fort complex, Jaswant Thada is a immensely beautiful royal cenotaph crafted out of white marble.

Rai Ka Bag Palace

Constructed by Hadiji, the queen of Maharaja Jaswant Singh I, Rai ka Bag Palace is a popular tourist spot in Jodhpur.
